The Following Dogs are Available for Adoption
Breed: Lab mix
Age: 9-ish years
Gramps is an oldie, but a goodie! Looking at this silver fox, at first glance you see his age in his "frosted" face... then he starts to romp and play (and take you along for the ride) and you wouldn't believe he's about 9 years old! He loves going for walks, prefers female dogs over males, and ADORES all people! Gramps is nine years YOUNG and ready to spend his prime time with you and your family, surrounded by the love he deserves! This bubba is house trained, loves couches, and wants to meet you!
Breed: Chihuahua mix
Age: 6-7 years
He is such a little gentleman who waits patiently for love from his humans & for his food, he takes treats gently & he waits to be invited in & out of rooms.
Peanut is a great couch companion & is happy to lay around, but he is still spunky & truly enjoys some play time. He loves tug of war with fuzzy toys & knows how to fetch. He also knows basic commands of sit, down & come.
This little guy is 100% potty trained & crate trained. He does not need the crate because he shows no signs of destructive behavior, but seems to like having the option of his own space to go to at times.
Peanut is great on a leash & looks forward to walks. He sleeps with his foster mom & loves to burrow under the covers.
Peanut is dog selective. He was growly with his foster siblings at first & now coexists with them & he has even begun to play with one of his foster sisters quite a bit.
Breed: Lab / Staffy mix
Age: 2 years
Trixie and her daughter Trudy were found living together on a mountain. Community members said Trixie had lived on that mountain for two years, had a litter of puppies, and only her miracle daughter - Trudy - survived. After a year together outside, they finally found their way to our rescue and began learning what love is. Trixie is a little more reserved than her spunky daughter, and would prefer a quieter home or to be an only pup. She is super sweet and quiet, and gets along with most dogs, but can occasionally show a very dominant side toward more submissive dogs. She is also a kitty chaser, so no cats!
Breed: Border Collie mix
Age: 2.5 years
Dixie is a sweet and affectionate girl who loves all people. She is a border collie and has lots of energy - we're looking for a home that will provide her the mental stimulation and exercise she craves. Are you looking for a running buddy? A friend who will keep you company on hikes? Someone you could train to do agility and take to the dog park? Dixie may be the girl for you!!
While she is great with children (as seen from photos above), we are looking for an adult-only home (children over 15 years) due to her herding-breed tendencies that could include "herding" small children.
Characteristics: affectionate, loving, loyal, sweet, gentle, playful, high energy
Would do best in a home with no other pets and NO CATS
Breed: Wirehaired Terrier
Age: 1.5 years
REQUIRES ANOTHER YOUNG DOG IN THE HOME.
NO YOUNG KIDS
Murphy is a shy guy who takes some time to warm up to new people, but absolutely adores his foster family (humans and dogs). He loves to romp in the yard with his fur-siblings and gets along with ALL dogs. Murphy is looking for a patient, quiet home with another friendly dog who can show him the ropes of being a well-rounded, social pup! He has come a long way in his foster home, but is still hesitant on walks and going out and about - Murph is a homebody that feels safest with the people he knows - but loves ALL dogs.
Murphy will take a special family with an open heart. He needs patience and understanding as he can take a couple weeks to come out of his shell. He absolutely ADORES puppies and really feels most comfortable with another young, playful pup. Do you have a sweet young pup at home who is looking for a buddy? Lets do a meet and greet and see if they get along!
***Meet and greets with Murphy will take place at the foster's home in Beverly, Chicago, AFTER a pre-approved application, vet reference, and in-person home check. As he is very nervous when first meeting people, we are looking for someone willing to work with a challenging dog, perhaps someone who has experience with shy dogs previously. We are looking for someone willing to come to 'his territory' three times for him to get used to you before he goes home with you - three seems to be the charm with this guy and you won't see his true personality until he trusts you but we have lots of videos showing how great he is at home once he trusts you. We'd love for you to bring your pup with on these outings!***
playful, affectionate, shy at first, perfectly house trained
