Q) Who are the people involved with your organizations?
A) Please know that all people involved with Half-Way Home Animal Rescue work full time and are volunteering their time for this organization.
Q) What is your phone number?
A) We do not have a published phone number for contacting us - email is the way we communicate as all of those involved are volunteers.
Q) Are you a "No Kill" organization?
A) Yes - We are an Foster based organization, which means we take in only those animals that we can house. All pets are received or accepted based on space. The pets we take in are from High-Kill Shelters!! We keep animals until we find them homes, no matter how long it takes.
Q) How long do you hold animals for?
A) There is no set time limit. We hold adoptable animals until we find them a home.
Q) Do you pick up stray animals?
A) No we do not offer this service. You must contact your local animal control.
Q) Do you accept donations?
A) YES! We accept donations of items such as blankets, towels, etc.. Please see our "DONATE" section for a list of our other needs. Donations are also accepted during our pet adoption weekends.
Q) Are you funded by the state/government?
A) NO! We are supported solely by the generous donations of the public. To make a contribution, please click the "Donate" section, stop by during our pet adoption weekends, or email mailto:[email protected]
Q) How long will my cat/dog be pregnant?
A) Gestation is approximately 63 days.
Q) I think my neighbor is abusing/neglecting their animal, can you help?
A) No. They need to contact a humane agent through the Humane Society. IF the offense is happening right now, you need to call 911.
Q) Do you offer rabies vaccination clinics?
A) No. Please check with The Humane Society or your local animal welfare league for shot clinics.
Q) Does my dog require a license even though he stays inside?
A) YES! All dogs over the age of 3 months are required by law to have a license.
Q) I found a baby bird, rabbit, injured wildlife etc. What do I do?
A) Please call your states Wildlife Rehabilitation Center for further instructions.
Q) Do you accept donations of opened food?
A) No. All of our animals are on a strict diet and are fed Pro-Plan pet food,or food of a specific nutritional need or medical need, while they are being looked after to monitor any health problems, but we do accept all unopened bags of any kind as well as canned food for our foster program.
We DO NOT Ship dogs or puppies out of state.
If we find that you have went against the signed adoption contract in any way and have not spayed/neutered an adopted pet of ours, we can/will remove the pet from your home.
If we find that you have went against the signed adoption contract by de-clawing a feline that was adopted through our group, we can/will remove the pet from your home.

- NO Out of State Adoptions (We will allow NW Indiana and Southern Wisconsin for Dogs if a volunteer is available in the area - But spay/neuter may not be included)
- CAT/KITTENS: We WILL Adopt out Cats/Kittens out of state - but only with approved application & vet reference. (But the Spay/Neuter will not be included in the adoption)
- To be considered for an adoption an Application MUST be filled out and all adoptions will have a VET Reference Check AND a HOME Check (Dogs). Please see our ADOPTION page
- We do not adopt dogs/puppies to people/persons for breeding or who are considering breeding.
